Ed Agnew, CA


Born and raised in Windsor, Ed became a Chartered Accountant through Queens University (1959) and now is a lifetime member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.  He was Commissioner of Finance of the City of Windsor until 1991, then Government Grants Consultant until 2007.  His athletic achievements include All City Quarterback, All Star track in 100 and 220, Champion swimmer and selected All Star track shortstop- Jr. Baseball.

Today Ed spends his time assisting locals charities, too numerous to mention.  In addition, he has consulted professionally on various projects of interest, including the Canada Festival Network, Windsor Pride, the Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator, the St. Clair College Mediaplex and the Assumption Church Restoration campaign.

Ed is also an accomplished musician.  He sang in the Championship 12 member boy’s choir, was a gold medalist in trumpet at Kiwanis Music Festival and is now a renowned whistler.  His long list of volunteer experience includes being Founding President and on the Board of Directors for the Capitol Theatre & Arts Centre, Past Chair for the Heart and Stroke Person to Person Campaign, Treasurer and on the Board of Directors for the Windsor/Essex Sports Hall of Fame, and President of the Circle of Seven.

Ed is one of many silent heroes in Windsor. Ed and his wife Eva have been married 52 years and have 4 daughters, 4 grandsons and 4 granddaughters. Ed follows the proven philosophy, “what you give in friendship and love is returned 10 fold which then gives 10 times more to give.”
